Dolpo is also known as “Ba Yul” in local language means the Hidden valley is a land of mystery, scenery and peace. Bordered by Dhaulagiri and Tibet from south and north, The Dolpo region is the natural embodiment of high passes, unique flora and fauna and sweeping vistas. The medicinal plant, Yarchagumba (Coerdiopsis sinensis) a type of wild mushroom is found in abundance in this region. Extracts from Yarchagumba is believed to significantly improve health and fitness. This trekking is for combination of natural and cultural phenomena which is enriched by the traditional Tibetan cultural heritage. It is located behind the mountain so it is rain shadow area and was opened in 1991 for trekking. The whole trekking areas in this region stretches through and around Arun River whose origin dates back to prehistoric period. The Arun valley is one of the most stunning regions to trek in Nepal.

Dolpo is protected by Shey-Phoksundo National Park. It lies to the north of the Dhaulagiri Range bordering the Tibetan Plateau. Here one can find a well-preserved eco-system of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and the elusive snow leopard. The marvelous view of Phoksumdo Lake, Kanjiroba peak and the Dhauligiri massif is one of the most rewarding moments of this trek. A visit to the Phoksumdo Gompa – dedicated to the ancient Bonpo religion, local to Dolpo and Tibet, is a memorable experience.

The Lower Dolpo trek offers opportunities to experience ancient villages home to Thakuri, Chhetri and Brahmin and they subsist on buckwheat, wheat and potatoes. With magnificent view from high passes, beautiful Lakes, isolated Buddhist monasteries and also to experience the vast array of wildlife inhabiting the region, including Blue sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and the legendary Snow Leopard.

Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj which takes about 56 minutes.

Fly from Nepalgunj to Jumla and it takes 30 minutes.

Trek from Gothi Chaur to Naphukana (3080m.) via Chotra (3010m.) and it takes about six hours.

Day 4

Trek from Napukhana to Balasa (2900m.) via Mauri Lagna Pass (3820m.) and Chaurkot (3060m.) which takes seven hours.

Trek from Balasa to Kai Gaon via Rimi (2890m.) which takes about six hours.

Trek from Kai Gaon to Toijem (2920m.) and it takes about five hours

Trek from Toijem to Kagmara Phedi (4000m.) via Garpung Khola (3650m.) which takes about six hours.

Trek from Kagmara Phedi to Lasa (4200m.) via Kagmara La (5115m.) and it takes about seven hours.

Trek from Lasa to Sumduwa (3500m.) which takes about five hours.

Trek from Sumduwa to Phoksondo Lake (3728m.) and it takes about four hours.

Trek from Phoksondo Lake to Renje (3010m.) via Palam (3340m.) which takes about seven hours.

Trek from Renje to Chhepka (2670m.) to Dunai and it takes about 6 hours hours.

Trek from Dunai to Juphal and it takes about three hours.

Fly from Juphal to Nepalgunj which takes about 35 minutes. than fly Nepalgunj to Kathmandu it takes around 56 minutes.
